Where the facts come from
- Every detail on a program page was taken from that program's own website. Each page lists the pages used and the date they were checked.
- If a program doesn't publish something, the page says "not published". Nothing is estimated or filled in from other sources.
- Programs without a working website of their own aren't listed yet.
- Details change every year. Always confirm tuition, dates and policies with the program before you rely on them.
What you won't find here
- Ratings, rankings or reviews. The right program depends on the student. The choosing guide and the question list help you judge for yourself.
- Labels of a program's religious outlook. Where a program describes itself, the page says so in the program's own terms.
- Paid placement. Programs can't pay to be listed or to appear higher. Lists are alphabetical.
About the tools
The tools are free and need no account. Anything you type into them is saved only in your own browser, on your own device. It is never sent to this site or to anyone else, and "Start over" clears it.
For schools: update your listing
If you work at a program and something on your page is out of date or missing, please send the correction and a link to where it appears on your website. Listings are free, and so are updates. If your program isn't listed, send your website and it will be added.
Contact
Corrections, questions and suggestions for new guides are all welcome. There's no contact form: the button opens an email in your own email app.
Who runs this site
Year in Israel is published by Ari Rosenberg of Consult With Ari (opens in a new tab), a web design and marketing consultancy based in Jerusalem and New York. Ari isn't an educator or a placement advisor, and no program pays to appear here. He built this as a free community resource.
Its sister site, Seminary Guide (opens in a new tab), covers women's seminaries only, in more depth: each seminary's staff, dates, schedule and application details, a map, and the published application dates for the coming year.
A note on the guides
The guides are general information for families, not legal, tax, medical or immigration advice. Where a guide covers rules or dates, it links to the official source and says when it was checked.
About the photos
The photos on this site show places in Israel and everyday scenes. They are not photos of any particular program or its campus, and each caption says what the photo shows. On a program page, the photo is of a place in Israel, usually in or near the program's area, and the caption says where it was taken. All photos come from Unsplash, with thanks to these photographers:
